Examining Your Eyes

We carefully examine your eyes using specialist equipment that allows us to see the front and back of the eye in high detail. This helps us spot early signs of conditions such as dry eye, cataracts, glaucoma, diabetes-related eye changes, and macular degeneration.

Digital retinal photographs may be taken to help us monitor your eye health over time. These images allow us to detect very small changes early, when treatment is most effective.

Eye Pressure Checks. Measuring eye pressure is an important part of checking for glaucoma.

Why we recommend upgrading to an Enhanced Eye Examination over an NHS Eye Examination

At Headcorn Eye Centre, we offer additional tests using advanced technology to give a more detailed assessment of your eye health. These tests allow us to closely monitor your eyes over time and create a valuable baseline for future comparisons.

Regular OCT scans of the optic nerve help us detect the earliest signs of glaucoma—often before any symptoms appear—so we can refer you promptly for treatment if needed. We also take a digital photograph of the front of your eye to carefully review and monitor any areas of concern.

Our Optomap ultra-widefield retinal imaging captures a detailed view of the back of the eye, allowing us to track even small changes year after year. Many people have natural pigmentation, or “freckles,” in the eye; this technology helps us tell the difference between harmless changes and more serious conditions. It also means we can closely examine the macula, where signs of conditions such as macular degeneration are often first seen.

With our comprehensive eye examination, you can leave feeling confident that your eyes have been thoroughly checked and that any potential problems are more likely to be detected early.
